Our favorite sandwich is the #10 made with ham and turkey. While others have commented that the owner is rude - I don't agree, he's straightforward and also juggling a lot of things at the same time. I've always been happy with the service, and keep coming back! It can get busy during lunch, so we prefer to order online. Sandwiches are delicious and filling, the sourdough bread is exceptional- especially if you're lucky enough to get it while it's still warm! The ambience is casual and nothing fancy. “ Goodness! Utter sandwich goodness. The most important part of a really good sandwich? The bread. They bake it fresh in-house and you can buy a fresh loaf to take home. My favorite is the liverwurst with onions. I crave liverwurst (perhaps because I have low iron), but you can't go wrong ordering any type of sandwich here. If you live in Novato you just gotta have it at least once in your life. In the meantime, I'm still on a quest to find a sandwich place that makes good sandwiches on good Dutch Crunch bread. Any suggestions on where? ”

“ I've been a long time customer of Michael's Sourdough. I used to frequent the San Rafael location in high school. I found a coupon in the mail recently and decide to pick up some sandwiches for lunch. The #4 The Sourdough has always been my favorite sandwich. I like the combo of different meats and of course their sourdough bread is the best. The location is on the smaller side in an industrial area. The parking lot is also small and can get a little hectic during the lunch hour. The owner was at the register ringing up customers and taking phone orders. He was friendly and appreciative of my business. ”
“ Looking for sandwiches in the Novato area, Michael's was the one that stood out to me. I am a sucker for some good dutch crunch or sourdough bread. Though I couldn't find any places with dutch crunch, I opted to come here fore some sourdough sandwiches instead. Michael's is located in this small lot near some office looking buildings. Though the lot was small, there were plenty of parking spots when I arrived on a weekday. Considering it seems like there is not much stores nearby, there were still a good amount of customers and it seemed like they get a lot of orders via phone. The sandwich shop front had a lot sides you could purchase such as chips, drinks, coffee and a mix of salads. Their sandwiches range from $10.99 to $11.19. There were about 5 tables inside for those that would like to dine in as well. I ordered #20 The turkey and Italian Salami on sourdough with everything on it (mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and Swiss cheese). For $10.99, the sandwich was a very decent size. The sourdough is definitely the driving factor of this place when it comes to their sandwiches. The bread was definitely fresh, just the right softness but enough to hold the sandwich together too. The turkey and salami were pretty standard though I wish there was more meat in the sandwich. The lettuce was a bit messy because it is shredded but I did not really mind too much, just so others are aware if they are attempting to eat in the car. Though they were busy, they take orders fairly quickly and I was definitely out of there within 5 minutes after placing my order. Overall, very affordable sandwiches and quick and friendly service. ”
